Acrostic Jewellery - Messages with Gemstones

What is acrostic jewellery?

Acrostic jewellery is jewellery with secret terms of endearment for your loved one, hidden within the names of the gemstones. Using the first letter of each gemstone name, words, birthdays names or secret messages are spelt out.

Believed to have been invented by Jean-Baptiste Mellerio (1765-1850), a jeweller to Marie Antoinette and the French court, the style gained popularity through Georgian and Victorian times with “Dearest” and “Regard” becoming favourite terms of affection.

The DEAREST necklace features Diamond, Emerald, Aquamarine, Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire and Tourmaline.
