The Bespoke Engagement Ring Process

The Bespoke Engagement Ring Process

While it can feel intimidating to begin the process of designing and commissioning an engagement ring or bespoke piece of jewellery, we are here to break the process down and help you navigate the intricacies involved to keep it easy, relaxed and enjoyable.

Budget

The starting point in any new commission is having a firm idea of your budget. This lets us know what we are working with from day one and allows us to source the best quality materials to suit you.

Gemstones and diamonds can vary hugely in cost and we are firm believers in quality over anything else.

All budgets are welcome and bespoke does not necessarily mean more expensive. We will work closely with you to discuss what can be created for you.

Design Ideas

You may or may not have an idea of what you would like, whether for your partner, yourself or someone else but we can guide you through the design process and its considerations.

Whether that be the best gemstones and diamonds and their shapes or other design elements such as stone setting styles or wed-fit and non wed-fit style rings. For more information on wed-fit style rings have a look at our information page here.

If you have ideas and inspiration already or no idea where to start we can walk you though everything needed to make a start on designing your future heirloom.

Stone Sourcing

Working with only the most reputable diamond and gemstone suppliers in Birmingham Jewellery Quarter and worldwide Rhiannon can source a selection of stones for you to view. A qualified gemmologist, Rhiannon will explain the qualities of each stone to better inform your decision. You are welcome to visit the studio in person or photos and videos can be sent over if you’re a bit further afield.

Making Process

Rhiannon will keep you updated throughout the making process to keep you informed of how things are progressing.

After some initial sketches there will be some rendered CAD drawings sent to you to approve and see how the final ring will look.

From here the design will be 3D printed, more photos sent over for the model to be approved before we move into metal. If necessary a model can be sent on to you to try.

Next the model is cast in the metal you’ve chosen, polished, hallmarked and the stones set ready for you to collect or have delivered.
